INTEGRATED SELECT, SUPER Y, BCSA, WHITECAPS EVALUATION – Super Y Day October 25
September 15, 2008
As a follow up to our recent announcement about the new Whitecaps and BCSA regionally based Super Y league (SYL) Model, please note the following updated information:
CLUB STRUCTURE
SOYSA, COYSA, NOYSA and SYSA have agreed to participate in the new governance model of the Okanagan Whitecaps Football Club which will be known as Okanagan WFC; a board is being appointed with membership from each youth association which will help guide the implementation of the new club.
An Okanagan WFC General Manager (GM) and Technical Director (TD) will be appointed this week for the 2009 season. Both the TD and GM will be working on appointing Okanagan WFC coaching staff in the next two weeks.
WE‘RE LISTENING AND RESPONDING
While the long term goal of the Super Y League program is to have an Okanagan WFC pool of players training on a more year round basis, we are also listening and responding to the short term needs of the Okanagan region. We have created an integrated approach for this season that is in collaboration with regional select programs.
REGIONAL EVALUATIONS AND SUPER Y DAY OCTOBER 25
Okanagan WFC staff will attend Select (TOYSL) try-outs in Vernon, Kelowna, Penticton, Salmon Arm and Kamloops and the final weekend of the TOYSL league on October 4/5 in Penticton. Based on this collaborative regional evaluation, there will be one consolidated Super Y Day evaluation October 25 at Beasley Park in Lake Country.
The Vancouver Whitecaps and the BC Soccer Association (BCSA) will also attend Super Y Day to provide an opportunity for evaluation for Super Y League, Whitecaps Residency and Prospects programs and BCSA Provincial teams. This is another new collaborative effort to provide an opportunity for our local players to —get noticed“.
SELECTION TO OKANAGAN WFC
After the Okanagan WFC October 25th evaluations, 18 to 20 players will be selected per squad, and parents will be asked to pay a $500 commitment fee by November 7th 2008 if they wish to participate in the 2009 season. The balance of league fees (a maximum of $1,500) will be due in late January of 2009.
The selected Okanagan WFC Super Y League teams will meet every second Saturday in December (excluding Christmas break), January and February at central indoor locations to work on fitness and skills training. This training is designed to complement any existing training and is being offered as part of the overall 2009 league fee.
HOW TO BE INVOLVED -REGISTER TO PARTICIPATE

We look forward to the start of a great 2009 season for Okanagan WFC.
